High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or Low Intensity Steady State (LISS), which is better for you??

H.I.I.T:
- Very time efficient, 30 minutes is enough time to get an effective workout done.
- Chances of picking up an injury are greater. For example, doing box jumps, especially as fatigue sets in.
- Requires more training experience as movements are performed quickly with great power. If you’re going to do HIIT pick exercises you’re comfortable with.
- Recovery period is generally longer.
- Can combine weight training and cardiovascular training.
L.I.S.S:
- Requires more time to be as effective.
- Much lower risk of injury as the training is much more controlled.
- Does not require as much training experience as this can be as simple as biking or walking.
- Recovery period is very short.
- Has to be just cardiovascular training.
The answer is not that one is better than the other, but that in certain situations one can be better. If you have limited time you would choose HIIT perhaps. If you have more time available and you have had a stressful day of work a walk on the treadmill would be much more beneficial.
