Majority of the population’s lives been flipped upside down of recent. Our routines have gone and new ones have replaced them. A lot of you are unable to work meaning you have a big chunk of your day to sit around the house and not go out…yay. With us sitting around more and perhaps reaching for the gin more often or the bag of M&M’s we may gain a little bit of body fat.
Then with that does sometimes come guilt and we may feel the need to punish ourselves by doing an extra 20 minutes on our run, adding in an extra round(s) of our home HIIT session or restricting ourselves in the kitchen by missing meals etc.
Life is about balance (cliché, I know) but balance does not mean binge all out all day on alcohol and pizza to then completely restrict yourself the next day with having just a chicken salad and an avocado. Do you want to live your life eating chicken, rice and broccoli out of tuber wear every meal? - I doubt it. If on Saturday evening you want to enjoy a pizza and 2 glasses of gin you should be able to without feeling guilty.
It is when you start feeling guilty you can get yourself in trouble physiologically as well as mentally. I am by far an expect in mental health so I am not going to delve into that at all. However, I do have a good understanding of the human body - Adhering to this binge and restrict diet followed by punishment in the (home)gym or whilst out for a run is going to simply batter your immune system! The last thing you need right now is a weakened immune system with convid-19 going around.
In short:
· Enjoy pizza now and again
· Enjoy Gin now and again
· Punishing yourself is not always a good idea
· Look after your immune system by looking after your body
· Enjoy pizza again
· Stay safe
