The problem with Pre Workout

A pre-workout drink is exactly as it sounds, you take it before you train. The main ingredient being caffeine which gives you that buzz and will improve your performance there is no disputing that! – so where is the downside??
Because the effects are so quick (15-30mins) and so obvious we (including myself) turn it into a ritual. We take our caffeine dense drink every time we enter the gym and this is where the effects start to rub off.
Because you are taking it every day you build up a tolerance to caffeine, meaning to get the same response as when you first took it your 1 scoop, soon turns into 1 and half scoops and then 2 scoops. A) your tub does not last as long, but more worryingly B) you are now taking in a lot of caffeine in a short space of time… not great for the heart.
My suggestion, only take it when you really need it, if you are tired after work but really want to get a session in that’s a great opportunity. With this you will also find you won’t need as much and you’ll get much more of a kick out of it because you have not built up a tolerance.
