I am sure at some point in time we have all heard somebody about something to someone has said “you are obsessed”. This is particularly common when someone has decided to improve their health.

Scenario:

Meet Jane, Jane is slightly overweight and has noticed her favourite clothes are getting tighter, not what she wants leading into summer. Jane decides to invest in an Online Coach, she has her nutrition all worked out, her training is all set for her and she speaks to him over the phone twice a week amongst other things.

2 months in and Jane is really starting to see the results come through, the dresses are all fitting wonderfully, she feels stronger and just feels great in herself.

That same week on the Saturday Jane and 3 others head out for some food and cocktails (girls night woo), Jane makes a quick note of her food writes down the cocktails she is having so she can add them to her MFP (My Fitness Pal, this is a calorie counter) the next day. One of the girls she was out with noticed this and made the comment of her being obsessed with her training and nutrition.

Was Jane making a quick note in her phone really that bad? I would say no, she is still able to go out, be sociable and have a good time but at the same time she is able to carry on working towards her goals.

Is Jane obsessed? I would say no, she is simply just loving how she feels and the results she is getting so she creates a balance. By tracking what she is having she can balance everything else out over the week.

Is Jane’s “Friend” a friend? No, she is not, she was jealous, she saw Jane making progress and enjoying her life more. Jane’s “friend” could not be bothered to go to the gym, could not be bothered to track her food and she did not want anyone else doing so.

Key points to take from this:

1. Jane is awesome and should keep doing what she doing.

2. Life is about balance, cliché I know but it is so true!! Improving her health does not mean she does not get to go out anymore.

3. If somebody says you are obsessed, you are not! You simply value the habits you have created because you love the results you are getting!!

Stay safe,

Josh.
