Majority of us are at home, whether it be working from home or after being furloughed. Either way we have more time at home and more time to spend in the kitchen, in most cases.

Normal day outside of lockdown: You go to work, go to the gym either before or after, run errand(s) and then come home. This is where you may find yourself shopping for convivence when it comes to food. This can be in the form of a take away or already prepare foods that just need heating up or adding simple ingredients. This may not be the case all the time but we have all been there, had a long day at work, feel pooped and the last thing we want to do is go home and cook.

The main two strands of our health are physical activity (going to the gym for example) and our nutrition (what we put in our mouths). Going to the gym, a bootcamp or a PT session is proving a bit tricky at the moment so this is a great opportunity to apply more focus to our nutrition.

When I say apply more focus I do not mean make everything super strict and bland, I mean focus on eating whole foods and cooking from scratch, we have the time to do so now! Whereas normally an hour spent in the kitchen after a long day does not seem overly appealing, now you have that opportunity to.

Why? Getting plenty of whole foods and micronutrients (fruit and veg) will go a long way in helping keep your immune system strong, ideal when there is a virus out there wanting to latch on to you.

An example could be a homemade pizza, base included! (Do not put pineapple on!!)

Stay safe and enjoy whole foods.
